Question from journal jar

For today blog I decided to randomly pick a question out of my journal jar. I made that a couple of years ago. I put questions in there if I run out of things to write about in my journal. Pretty neat huh? Ok the question that I pulled out is... write about some places you went with your father.
The first thing that came to my mind was my 7th birthday when my dad and I spend the whole day together. That was really special to me because it is not that very often that I had my dad all to myself. We went to the Marina and watched the boats. He took me to buy some new shoes... I can still see them in my mind. They were blue Nikes with 3 yellow stripes on them. We also went to the Drive-in-movies.

When I was in High School I do remember my dad having to pick me up from a library on his motorcycle because that was the only working form of transportation. So when it came time on Sunday he would take us one at a time up to church and then back home again. Luckily we were going to the Henderson building instead of the 15 minute drive to Santa Paula building.

Of course I have gone camping with the whole family. I really enjoying camping with the family. My dad does a great job making sure that we are were all fed. I am sure that my mom enjoys that time off from cooking. My family has made it an annual thing to do. I think that started when my oldest was 2. But unforturnately we have only been able to make it to 2 of them since then.

The latest place that I have been with my dad would be the big family reunion at Bear Lake, Utah. It was all the family from Grandma W. and her 2 brothers on down. That was 4 generations. There was a lot of people there and a lot of fun. Our family stayed in a condo. I think there was 20 people in there. It was a 3 store place. I am so glad we were able to go and see everyone. There was the lake there to get wet in, waverunners to explore the water on, caves to see, and close by, old Tabernacle and the National California/Oregeon Trail center to take a tour in. During the day it was basically "Free time". Every night there was a big gathering of everyone at a park with activties honoring Great Grandma Bea and Great Grandpa Gunnar.

I hope that you enjoyed reading about some of my memories with my dad. He is an awsome man. Love ya Dad!

Pioneer Day celebration

Every year our Stake has a Big Pioneer celebration at a church owned park for 2 days. This is the 3rd time we have gone and the 1st time Randy has been able to enjoy both days.

The 1st night was 6:30 to 10:00. There was a dinner, booths to go to, entertainment, and fun. The dinner is cooked in a deep pit and it is so yummy. There was craft booths. Booth that gave away free snowcone, home made fresh bread, and doughnuts. Booths for food storage ideas, and lots more. Lots of people too. Both the 2 youngest liked dancing to the music. I took a few seconds of video of them dancing but could not figure out how to add it yet.

The second day starts at 4 till 10. There is food booths, lots of rides for the kids to play on, games, entertainment and it ends with a fire works show. There was tickets that we had to purchase and at each ride or food booth they would punch out the worth of what you just got. The money is used to maintain the park so it is worth it. Number 2 son kept going back for a free snowcones.

Our ward was in charge of some of the rides. I was in charge of the slip and slide for a 1/2 hour. Randy even was in charge of the water slide for a little while. Both at different times of course. Oldest even got to play on a drum set that someone had brought. It made it so much easier to have Randy there. Last year our youngest was in a stroller so it was easier on me. But this year I knew I would need help.

I think that we all had a good time. It was fun spending time with all of us there. Oldest says he can't wait until next years.

tourist for the day

Randy and I decided to to show the kids some things around town. So we became tourist for the day. We have lived here for a bitand it has been a while since we actually played "tourist". Our oldest was in a stroller when we went the last time. That has been a long time ago. Most people that live there try to avoid the "Strip" as much as possible.

First we went to Ethal M Chocolate Factory. They were not really a lot of people working at the time we came for the self guided tour. Oldest wanted to know if it was anything like Charlie and the Chocolate factory. They were happy they got a sample of chocolate. We then walked around the Cactus Garden.

Then on to M&M World. We walked around in there and did something that none of us have ever done. We saw the 3D movie in there. There were some of the M&M character on different floors. We bought a mix put together by Randy of the M&M's. They is a lot of different colored M&M's. We all really enjoyed that treat. We also went into the Coca-cola place next door but they did not have a lot to do in there.

Our last stop was the MGM to see the lions. All the boys liked seeing real lions. There was a male and female in there. They were playing ball.

I think all of us had fun on our adventure. I am hoping we will be doing that again soon. So go out and be "tourist" of where you live. Go see something you never have in your town and see what fun you will have. Until next blog... Hoping it will be tomorrow...be good to yourself.

Melanie and Cassie

Wednesday night Randy and I picked up Melanie and Cassie from the airport. They flew in for a short visit to see all of Randy's family that live in Utah. Veloy drove down Wednesday with Martha to take them back to St. George. They all spent the night here and left Thrusday morning. It will be a very short visit. They will fly back Friday night. This time Brent will be the one to take they to the airport.I am happy to report that Melanie has gotten married, and sad to say that they will be moving to Oklahoma in a little bit. I am really happy for Melanie. Her husband sounds like a really nice guy that really cares for Mel and Cassie.
It was really good to see them. It has been a couple of years since we have last seen them. I hope that they have a good time visiting everyone.

Things I have learned the hard way

-You need to hide all markers because some sharpie pen markings do not come off by using Mr. Cleans magic easure.

-Running on wet tile is not a good idea

-Water and dirt mixed together make a great receipe for boys to have fun in

-All your spices dumped out together takes a long time to replace.

-Sugar can make a big mess.

-Turning on the microwave with a book in it starts a fire.

-Running into someone you are chasing causes Black eyes and the older brother gets called into the office to find out what happened to cause it.

-Kids love to climb on top of cabinets

-You need to hide scissors. Older brothers love to give hair cuts.

-Never leave our cassette tapes

-Slipping in the bathtub makes it look like you got beat up. It also causes blackeyes.

-You are only needed when you are using the restroom.

-Butter is hard to clean up

Monsoon Time

The monsoon season is beginning. It brings rain, wind, and flooding. It is now raining outside with loud thunder and lightening. I remember last year during this season it rained really hard in 5 minutes and our street was flooded for a bit of time. The kids loved seeing that and driving thru the puddles in the street.
I love it just after it rains. The smell in the air is refreshing.
I remember when I lived in Ventura it was raining one day and I was working, picking up the mail from a hospital, I was barefoot just running around. It felt good having the water rush by me. I was so lucky that I did not get sick from that.

The Trail Blazer

This is our oldest son. He will be in the 4th grade. Oh my! He is a very friendly person, and very good at remembering peoples names. He has no problems going up to a total stranger. Which is a scary thing. Yipes! He use to ask people where there mom and dad is and this person might be in their 40's or 50's. It was quite funny and embarrassing to me at the sometime. So with that being said I think he was sent to me to get out of my own comfort zone. You have to at times when you have children.

When he was younger and learning to spell his name I felt so bad that he had such a long first name such a small kid. But he has grown into his name. It is no longer a struggle for him to spell. At school he is called by his nickname but I don't call him that. At least not all the time. Out of the blue I might.

He has been such a help to me. Especially when it is just my boys and I out and about. I find that I am relying on him more and giving him more freedom at the same time. But sometimes he does rebel and not do as I ask. Which is a lot less then it use to be.

He loves to watch baseball. He got that from Randy. Randy is a huge baseball fan and he got that from his dad. Runs in the family I guess. All of them are Dodger fans. He use to play tee-ball. I think he enjoyed doing that. Now he likes to play catcher as we play catch.

He loves to ride his bike. Especially to school. I am still relectant to let him do that. This upcoming school year T- will be in Kindergarden and I know that he will want to ride is bike to. So I need to figure out what to do.

He is in Cub Scouts. He is a Bear. He has recently finished his Achiments to earn his Bear patch. I enjoy having him in our Den. ( I am the Asst Bear leader) He is enjoying being a scout. We have a lot of fun during pack meeting. He is looking forwards to our next Pack meeting. We are having a swim party because the theme for the month is "Water".

Well thats it for my 3 sons. Until next time.

Cutie pie

This is our 2nd son. What can I say about my sweet child. He is the one that I call my teddy bear. He loves to give me hugs. He is really a "Lady's Man". He is such a charmer. I can't stay mad at him. He also makes me laugh.
There was one time when I was trying to take his picture when he was younger and every time he would smile and then as I would snap a picture he would quickly put his finger in his nose and just laugh. My silly, silly son!
He will be starting kindergarden this year. I can't believe it. Where did the time go? I know that he will do fine because he did good in pre-school. I think that he is one that can make friends easily.
the two youngest share a room since they are so close in age. He loves to play with both his brothers and always wants to go with the oldest when he goes and plays with his friends.

This one is also a daredevil when it comes to riding his bike, and doing tricks on the trampaline. It scares me. A few months ago he lost one of his fingernails from riding his bike into a parked truck. It is almost grown all the way back.

He is both Randy and my helper. He loves to help Randy around the house fixing things and doing yardwork. He comes up to me and says " I'm being a man! Doin' man's work!". That always brings a smile to me and I just shake my head.
He looks a lot like Randy's side. Some people say that he looks like a mini of the oldest. I think he is a good mix of both sides. But there is for sure something that he got from me. Being sly (sneaky).
One day the boys were playing with the water in the backyard in the mud. So Randy and I decided to let them go to town and play in the mud. I think they had a lot of fun.

Ok that is it for now... Until next time...
